Education Department Higher Education Development Centre Publishing year : 1996 Source: NZARE Conference, Nelson, 5-8 December 1996 Physical data Conference paper Format Conference papers Abstract This paper reports on work in progress on a project developed in 1995 by the University of Otago's Higher Education Development Centre (HEDC), the Education Department and the Maori Centre in consultation with the Maori Affairs Board. The aims of the project are to aid University of Otago departments to interpret and implement University charter goals in relation to the Treaty of Waitangi, while at the same time evaluating the implementation of such a process of institutional reform. The project seeks to evaluate the usefulness of the process of strategic planning for academic audit as a means of Implementing Treaty of Waitangi Charter goals in Tertiary Institutions. The paper will report on the development of training workshops by the research team and the implementation and follow-up of these workshops in late 1995 and 1996.
